Myongji Hospital opens Covid-19 home care support center
Myongji Hospital in Goyang, north of Seoul, opened a support center on Tuesday to provide home treatment support for up to 2,000 mild or moderate Covid-19 patients a day.

The support center is equipped with an advanced system for managing at-home treatment patients based on the management know-how, protocol, and big data obtained since the hospital ran the Fourth Gyeonggi Province Life Treatment Center in January.
Given that even some severely ill patients will have to receive home treatment under the current “living-with-covid" scheme, Myongji Hospital plans to implement a system that provides online and offline medical support by identifying individual risk factors at an early stage, according to hospital officials. The hospital stressed that its integrated support system for Covid-19 home treatment provides effective offline medical support, such as visiting treatment and mobile clinic, for high-risk groups instead of conventional non-face-to-face online treatment.
"The hospital has established an integrated support system for home treatment patients to solve the problems of home care, such as the lack of rapid response efficiency and transfer system, and the limit of hospitalization," Myongji Hospital Chairman Lee Wang-jun said.
Ko Byeong-gyu, director of Goyang Public Health Center, also said, "We have been aware of Myongji Hospital's excellent response to Covid-19. However, the high-level home treatment support system prepared by the hospital to prepare for the 'living-with-covid' system is really amazing."
Myongji Hospital, a base hospital for Covid-19, added that it is taking a comprehensive approach to patient care by establishing a respiratory fever clinic, screening clinic, Covid-19 test center, and Gyeonggi Province Life Treatment Center.
